About Alt Asylum

Alt Asylum was created for people who live outside the mainstream.

Whether you’re into goth, punk, metal, horror, cosplay, tattoos, alternative art, LGBTQ+, dark aesthetics, or simply being yourself without judgment, you’ve found your people.

We’re building a community where creativity comes first, individuality is celebrated, and real people connect over shared interests. Unlike many modern social platforms, Alt Asylum isn’t driven by algorithms or artificial intelligence. What you see comes from the communities you choose to follow and the people you connect with—not a machine deciding what should appear in your feed.

Alt Asylum is powered by humans. That means no AI making moderation decisions, and no algorithms deciding what content gets promoted or hidden. Every moderation action is made by a real person.

To keep our community enjoyable for everyone, we ask all members to follow these standards.

1. Be Respectful

Treat everyone with respect.

Disagreements are part of any community, but harassment, bullying, intimidation, or targeted abuse are not welcome here.

2. No Hate Speech

We do not allow content that promotes or encourages hatred or discrimination against people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other protected characteristics.

Slurs, dehumanizing language, or calls for violence or exclusion are prohibited.

3. No Threats or Violence

Do not threaten, encourage, coordinate, or glorify violence against individuals or groups.

Content promoting criminal activity or celebrating real-world acts of violence may be removed.

4. Adult Content

Alt Asylum is not an adult or pornography website, but adult content is permitted and is not filtered.

However, there is absolutely zero tolerance for illegal or exploitative content. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Any depiction of anyone under the age of 18
• Child sexual abuse material or exploitation
• Bestiality
• Revenge porn
• Posting another person’s nude or sexually explicit content without their permission
• Any other illegal sexual content

Violating these rules will result in an immediate and permanent ban. When appropriate, Alt Asylum will cooperate with and report violations to the proper law enforcement authorities.

5. Adults Only

Alt Asylum is strictly for adults.

You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account or use this website. Anyone found to be under the age of 18 will have their account permanently removed.

6. No Harassment

Do not stalk, repeatedly target, impersonate, blackmail, dox, or encourage harassment of another member.

Respect other people’s boundaries.

7. Keep It Legal

Do not use Alt Asylum to facilitate illegal activities.

Examples include fraud, identity theft, human trafficking, terrorism, distributing malware, or any other criminal activity.

8. No Spam

Spam hurts communities.

Do not flood groups, repeatedly post the same content, create fake engagement, or use automated accounts to manipulate discussions.

9. Respect Intellectual Property

Only upload content you own or have permission to share.

Respect the creative work of other artists and creators.

10. False Identity & Impersonation

Do not impersonate another individual, business, or public figure in a misleading or deceptive manner.

Parody and satire are welcome when they are clearly recognizable.

11. Privacy Matters

Respect the privacy of others.

Do not share another person’s personal information—including addresses, phone numbers, financial information, identification documents, or private conversations—without their permission.

12. Graphic Content

Graphic injury, gore, or disturbing real-world content should not be posted solely for shock value.

Artistic, fictional, educational, and horror-related content are welcome.

13. Community Groups

Groups may establish additional rules that fit their community.

Group rules cannot override the platform-wide Community Standards.

14. Report Problems

If you encounter spam, harassment, illegal content, fake accounts, or other rule violations, please report them to the moderation team.

False or malicious reports may themselves result in moderation action.

15. Moderator Decisions

Moderation on Alt Asylum is handled by real people—not AI.

Our moderators make decisions based on these Community Standards and the overall health of the community. If you violate our rules, content may be removed and your account may be suspended or permanently banned.

Serious violations may result in immediate permanent removal.

16. Bans Are Final

Because every moderation decision is reviewed by a human, we do not offer an appeals process.

If your account is permanently banned, that decision is final.

17. Respect Creative Expression

Alternative culture thrives on creativity.

Dark art, horror, gothic imagery, cosplay, tattoos, body modification, metal, punk, fantasy, witchcraft, LGBTQ+ communities, photography, original artwork, and other forms of creative expression are all welcome here, provided they comply with these Community Standards.

18. Help Build Something Different

Alt Asylum exists because many of us wanted a place where alternative culture could thrive without being buried by algorithms or treated as something that needed to be “fixed.”
